Ga-Rankuwa, North West -

Marikana mineworkers will spend another night in custody after the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court postponed their bail applications on Monday.

Arguments for and against the release on bail of the 260 miners would be heard when the matter resumed before magistrate Esau Bodigelo on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Nigel Carpenter said on Monday he was not ready to proceed with the arguments.

The legal team representing the miners told the court that some of them, who had been in custody since August 16, had not had access to medication for tuberculosis and HIV.

A State witness, investigating officer Brigadier Jacobus van Zyl, earlier told the court that police were yet to verify the miners' addresses. - Sapa
