Maize prices end session firmer

Maize prices ended firmer on Tuesday‚ rebounding from a two-day losing run‚ which traders had attributed to some profit taking.

The near-dated August white maize contract was up R45 to R2‚711 a ton and the September white maize contract lifted R49 R2‚735 a ton. The December white maize rose by R43.60 to R2‚796.60 a ton.

The near-dated August yellow maize contract was up R34 to R2‚712 a ton‚ the September yellow maize contract climbed R25 to R2‚727 a ton and the December yellow maize contract was R34 firmer at R2‚761 a ton.

The August wheat contract gained R15 to R3‚426 a ton‚ with the September wheat contract rising R22 to R3‚460 a ton and the December wheat contract climbed R28 to R3‚482 a ton.

US corn futures were mixed‚ as traders waited for key government crop reports on Friday to provide new estimates on the US crop's size and demand levels‚ Dow Jones Newswires reported.
