Cape Town - Accused child killer and rapist Moyhdian Pangkaeker faces more criminal charges as his trial got underway at the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday.
Pangkaeker, who plead not guilty, now faces 27 charges including the murder and rape of Tazne van Wyk, 8, who went missing on February 7, 2020 after she had left her Ravensmead home to buy an ice lolly at a nearby shop.
According to court documents, Pangkaeker lured Tazne from Clare Street, Connaught Estate before he disappeared with her.
“He lured her away in a manner unknown to the State and took her with him via Connaught Road, Parow to Parow Station. He took the deceased to Worcester where he raped and killed her. He cut off her right hand and hid her body in a storm water pipe next to the N1 highway outside Worcester in the direction of De Doorns.
“The accused was arrested on 17 February 2020 at Cradock in the Eastern Cape. The body of the deceased was recovered on 19 February 2020. A post mortem examination done on the body of the deceased concluded that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, neck and chest (unnatural),” court documents read.
At the time of his arrest, Pangkaeker was out on parole and had been convicted of a number crimes committed over four decades.
Pangkaeker’s list of charges includes rape, murder, desecrating a corpse, child exploitation, grooming of children, intimidation and absconding from monitoring.
According to court documents, from 12 January 2019 Pangkaeker - who was placed on community corrections duty after being convicted on other criminal charges - unlawfully and intentionally absconded from monitoring and in so doing, avoided being monitored by the Department of Correctional Services.
He is also accused of incest in that he raped his biological daughter in a bush as she made her way home from a club where the two had worked together in Ladismith.
Thereafter he continued to rape her on three further occasions until she was subdued into a sexual relationship with Pangkaeker. This resulted in a child being born from the incestuous relations.
Pangkaeker is further accused of sexually assaulting minor relatives where he had allegedly fondled the breasts of his then-13-year-old niece and in another incident bribed another girl relative to have sex with him for money and when she declined, he "kissed her on her mouth and pushed his tongue in her mouth“.
Pangkaeker’s sexually motivated and violent deeds date back several years and follows a trail where he relocated from towns including Worcester, Johannesburg, Ladismith and Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban.
The matter continues in the Western Cape High Court.
