The Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) is pleading for assistance in solving a rape case.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the FCS detectives were of the view that the three people in the identikit can assist them in solving the rape case.

Mbele said it is alleged that on November 4 at 5pm, a 23-year-old woman went to meet her friend at a food outlet on Umgeni Road in Durban, to view the new residence that her friend had found. It is alleged that after their meeting, the victim was introduced to two foreign men, and one of the men was introduced as the boyfriend of the victim’s friend.

The victim was requested to jump into their car so they could all go to the new place. All four of them got into a white vehicle which was driven by the boyfriend of the victim’s friend. The vehicle stopped an unknown place in Durban where they all entered a room which was believed to be the home of her friend, Mbele said.

“The alleged friend of the victim left the victim with the two men inside the house, and made an excuse of going to find water. The victim was then raped by the two unknown men and was later dropped by the suspects in Durban CBD on the same day after they raped her,” Mbele said.

She said the friend’s last known address was in Ntuzuma, north of Durban, but she has since relocated. The places of residences of the two men are unknown.

“The Durban Central police believe that the three people in the identikit will assist them to solve the case,” Mbele said.

Anyone with information that will assist police to find the people in the attached identikit should contact the investigating officer, Constable Tshabalala, on 084 891 7287 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
