Global superstar Tyla has proved why she deserved to win a Grammy.

The South African export artist’s debut self-titled album released in March and received platinum status six months later.

The album features her No.1 hit single, “Water”, as well as other chart toppers like “Jump”, “ART” and “Truth or Dare”.

Tyla received a massive plaque at the Sony Music studios in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to mark her significant milestone.

The plaque also showcased that “Truth or Dare” and “Jump” have been certified gold, while “Water”, which took the world by storm, has gone diamond.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, an international gold status is when a song or album sells 500 000 units, platinum is more than a million units sold and diamond 10 million or more albums or singles sold.

Tyla joins the list of multi-award-winning artists like Lady Gaga, Eminem, Bruno Mars, Pharrell, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber, who have also received diamond status during their music careers.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the superstar posted pictures of herself with the huge plaque. She wrote in the caption: “Eu te amo, Brazil” (“I love you Brazil”).

Fans from all over the world took to the comments to congratulate Tyla on the massive achievement.
