Durban - The vaccine records of the UK-bound restauranteur who found out that one of his jabs had not been loaded on the central vaccination computer system, should be in order before next week, according to eThekwini Municipality.

However, Don Hamilton, of Berea, whose business suffered in the Covid pandemic and has a job offer abroad, is only getting more anxious as the clock ticks.

“Now I want to catch an earlier flight (than March 22 when he was originally booked). It really will affect me if I am not loaded on to the system,” he said yesterday while on his way to his travel agent.

He had his second vaccination at Moses Mabhida Stadium, staffed by eThekwini Municipality health officials.

eThekwini spokesperson Lindiwe Khuzwayo said the station did, at times, experience challenges during electricity interruptions, when there was a backlog of manual captured sheets and data connectivity.

“Clients are also advised to follow up with the site if they do not receive an SMS notification within an hour of vaccination, which in this case did not occur,” she said..

Khuzwayo added that the KZN Department of Health data management services was contacted, and were prioritising this matter and plan to resolve it before next week.

“Such challenges do exist and are linked to electricity interruptions, challenges with connectivity and the capturing of manual records.“
