Cape Town’s much-loved outdoor cinema, The Galileo Open Air Cinema, is back for its 13th season, running from October 16 to May 17.

This season’s theme, "Galileo Under the Stars," invites film lovers to enjoy a wide selection of movies at scenic venues across Cape Town and the Winelands.

With a variety of genres on offer, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re into classic films or the latest box office hits, you’ll find romance, comedy, drama, animation, thrillers, and even musicals on the programme.

For those looking for a Halloween thrill, head to Kirstenbosch Gardens on October 31 for a screening of “The Shining”.

This iconic 80s horror film is guaranteed to send shivers down your spine. As the sun sets, the garden will be transformed for an eerie night of horror, but be warned, this film is not suitable for children.

Families won’t be left out, as the Kids Halloween Show takes place on 1 November at Central Park, Century City. The evening will feature a screening of “Hotel Transylvania”, perfect for younger viewers.

Visitors can expect a fun atmosphere with trick-or-treating and free face-painting for the kids.

Special screenings are also lined up for the festive season, Valentine’s Day, and Easter for movie magic under the stars.

Food vendors will be on-site, offering a range of meals from pizza and nachos to vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and Halaal options.

This year’s venues include:

  • Kirstenbosch Garden
  • Central Park in Century City
  • Blaauwklippen
