For the second consecutive year, Salsify at the Roundhouse has been crowned Africa’s Best Landmark Restaurant at the World Culinary Awards.

The announcement was made during the annual winners dinner held on Thursday, at the stunning Summersalt, Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel in Dubai.

Head Chef Nina du Toit accepted the award on behalf of her team, reflecting on the restaurant’s six-year journey since its inception.

“Awards like these acknowledge our efforts and reward us for the time we’ve taken to get here and the dedication we put in every day to make Salsify an exceptional experience for our guests,” she said.

Nestled in the Roundhouse building, which dates back to 1786, Salsify offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean against the majestic backdrop of Lion’s Head.

The restaurant is a cornerstone of Cape Town's fine dining scene, serving modern cuisine that draws inspiration from nature and the changing seasons.

Inside, the restaurant boasts a unique charm, with interiors adorned by graffiti art from local artist Louis de Villiers, known as Skullboy. His work tells the tale of one of the building’s earliest residents, Dr. James Barry.

The dining experience is further elevated by the eye-catching Origami ceiling installation in the Seasonal Room, crafted from thousands of old Salsify menus, some dating back to the restaurant’s opening.

Executive chef and co-owner Ryan Cole expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“We are fortunate enough to work from one of the most incredible locations in Cape Town, between land and sea. I am incredibly proud of my team and grateful for the acknowledgement.”
