India has been applauded for having a fourth runner-up at the Miss Universe India beauty pageant who is from the north eastern region of India.

This highlights a growing diversity in the beauty pageant because it is the first time a contestant from the north eastern region has got so far in the competition.

The newly crowned Miss Universe India, Rhea Singha was crowned on September 22 in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Singha was among the 51 contestants who were aiming for the crown.

The 18-year-old will have the opportunity to represent India at the global pageant, Miss Universe 2024 in Brazil.

Hailing from Nagaland and making history, Ruopfuzhano Whiso is the fourth runner-up of Miss Universe India.

Whiso the first contestant from Nagaland to achieve this position in the competition. Her achievement highlights the growing diversity of India’s beauty pageants.

Not only did Whiso make history for the Indian beauty pageants, but she also made history for herself and her region.

Whiso’s Instagram is flooded with congratulatory comments from the north eastern community who were vying for her in the beauty pageant.

The Miss Nagaland beauty pageant took to Instagram to also congratulate Whiso on her win.
