Honda has upgraded its motocross bikes for 2013, extending its appeal to a broad range of ages and skill levels with performance and suspension updates for the CRF250R and CRF450R - and a completely new model for the popular ProMini class.
The all-new, four-stroke CRF110F is aimed squarely at the 8-11 year-old riders who are eligible to ride in the ultra-competitive ProMini class. It replaces the previous 80cc two-stroke model and features a new engine - with electric starter - and upgraded suspension.
With its styling inspired by the latest 250 and 450cc 'crossers, the CRF110F is intended as a stepping stone up to more competition-focused motocross and enduro machines.
The CRF110F will be available in South Africa from late August or early September 2012.
Pricing will be announced then.
The CRF250R engine's response ian the low and mid-range has been boosted by recalibrating the fuel injection, and the rear monoshock has been revised with new internals and damping rates for smoother action and less squat under hard acceleration.
The 2013 CRF450R has been significantly revised using feedback from the HRC works team in the All-Japan Motocross championship.
Its all-new frame has been designed to move all the heavy components (including the rider!) closer to the centre of effort for more agile handling, and it has new Kayaba air-sprung inverted front forks.
The engine has been re-tuned for more low-down torque and smoother power delivery to make an open-class motocross bike “that's easier to ride faster, for longer”, says Honda.
The 2013 CRF250R and CRF450R are due for SA release from November 2012 onwards. Prices, as always, when they get here.
