Hot on the heels of Datsun revealing its Go+ wagon at the Indonesia Motor Show, Honda has pulled the covers off of its answer to the affordable MPV sector.
The Honda Mobilio, shown in prototype form, is a new low-cost MPV developed exclusively for Asian markets.
What better way to keep costs down, then, than to base it around the Indian-built Honda Brio hatchback?
The Mobilio is likely to offer seven-seat practicality and it should hold its own on rough roads thanks to its 185mm of ground clearance.
To cope with the extra baggage, the little Honda is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder petrol motor.
It's set to go into production in Indonesia in January next year and although it's not likely to see light of day outside of Asia, don't rule out the possibility of it hitting South African streets somewhere in the future, Particularly if Datsun SA gives its Go+ the green light.
