Mention in the same breath 'Ferrari' and 'aftermarket kit' and the first words that spring to mind are 'gilding the lily', or even 'sacrilege'.
But in fact German tuning house Vorsteiner have done a brilliant job with this carbon-fibre aero kit for the 458, which will go on sale later this year.
Included in the 458-V package will be a splitter that clips on to the existing front bumper, side skirts, a boot-lid spoiler and a very sexy rear diffuser with deep vertical fins.
Normally, of course, accessories made of the light stuff are merely coated with clear lacquer - as in these pictures - to highlight the weave of the space-age material, but Vorsteiner will happily supply in any colour, to match your 458.
Vorsteiner also released a set of 21” custom rims for the 458 in January this year, which have proved popular among the tifosi. There's a set on the car in these pictures, to complete a look that, rather than screaming 'custom', is all Ferrari - only more so.
Mechanically, the Vorsteiner 458 is standard; The 4499cc V8 delivers 419kW at 9000rpm and 540Nm at 6000, taking the car from 0-100km/h in 3.4 seconds and on to 325km/h flat out.
Fuel consumption, for the anoraks among us, is quoted at 13.3 litres/100km.
