Call it a non-reveal of sorts, but the beneath the cover in the accompanying picture is the all-new Nissan Qashqai that Nissan plans to unveil properly on 7 November.

Markings on the cover reveal some aspects of the basic silhouette, though, and hint at some frontal design cues like a narrow V-shaped grille and headlights that likely resemble those on the new X-Trail .

To help build up the excitement, Nissan has bombarded us with some bold sales pitches, saying that it “pushes the boundaries of design and innovation” and “sets new standards across the board.”

The new Qashqai is also set to introduce some segment-first technologies and Nissan promises state-of-the-art infotainment systems.

Nothing on the technical side is mentioned, but when Autocar spoke to an insider earlier this month, it revealed that European models will offer just one engine option in the form of Nissan's 1.2-litre DIG-T turbopetrol engine, offering 84kW.

On the diesel front, Nissan will offer an 80kW 1.5 and 95kW 1.6 dCi.

Watch this space next Thursday as Nissan reveals what it describes as its most significant car in modern history.
