We can't think of many reasons why going on the Oprah Winfrey Show would equate with a good time, except for the fact that once in a while she gives a free car to the entire audience.

A few years back, these talk show faithfuls were rewarded with a brand new Pontiac, and now her latest audience has been rewarded with a car that is likely far more suited to them - a 2012 Beetle.

Of course, no one besides VW insiders and Oprah have seen the 2012 Beetle yet (officially at least - there are spy pictures doing their rounds). It's set to be unveiled in the early months of next year and audience members will take delivery of their prizes around the middle of 2011.

Oprah did, however, reveal the design silhouette of this new retro-mobile, on the show. While the previously-seen spy shots reveal it has an evolutionary look, with a more muscular side profile mated to front and rear ends that are similar to today's car, it will be a lot more modern beneath the skin as it moves from the Golf 4 platform to the Golf 6's underpinnings.

According to VW, the Beetle will offer a greatly enhanced driving experience and it will boast technologies such as a touch screen radio, branded audio speaker systems, navigation and unique ambient lighting.
