Production at Toyota's Prospecton plant in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal was expected to resume on Friday after negotiating parties reached an agreement on Thursday to end an illegal three-day strike that had stopped all production at the plant.

The agreement resolved a pay dispute related to the implementation of a part of the 2010 National Bargaining Forum agreement; conpany spokesman Leo Kok said the details of this agreement would be shared with all staff members before their return to work.

Kok added that production of 2428 vehicles had been lost during the stoppage at the plant, which 120 000 vehicles a year, half for the export market and the rest sold in South Africa and neighbouring states. - Reuters
