The Toyota 86 is going topless for the Geneva Motor Show and what you see here are the first official pictures of the 'FT-86 Open concept' that should pave the way for a production model. It certainly looks production-ready.

The concept features an electrically operated fabric roof and Toyota has managed to retain the coupé's back seats - if you can call them that.

The interior of the concept was styled by a Milan-based designer and features a high-contrast white and navy blue colour scheme that Toyota says emphasises the car's proportions.

As with the tin-top, the Open concept has a rear-wheel drive configuration, although Toyota's not saying if there's anything new under the bonnet. That said, it's likely that the production model would feature the same 147kW/204Nm 2-litre flat-four engine as the aforementioned coupé.

But now that the posers have been sorted out, perhaps its time for Toyota to delight enthusiasts with a faster version of the 86.
