According the dictionary of stereotypes, mainstream hybrids like the Toyota Prius are aimed at carrot-munching tree huggers without the slightest hint of enthusiasm for cars.

But we live in a world where stereotypes are shattered all the time, and that's exactly what Toyota is trying to do with its 'Plus Performance Package' for Prius customers in the USA.

Created by performance division TRD, there are sadly no performance enhancements to speak of here, but there is a glut of accessories that lend a sportier look and improve the handling.

On the visual front, the package includes a seven-piece aerodynamic ground effects kit with front and rear bumper spoilers, side skirts and a uniquely styled rear diffuser. Rounding off the visual package is a set of race-inspired 17-inch alloys.

Beneath the surface, track-tuned lowering springs lower the vehicle by 28mm in the front and 33mm at the rear. A tuned rear sway bar, made from high carbon spring steel, is added to help reduce body lean.
