The Volkswagen CC, you know - the Passat with the coupe-like four door body, has just undergone some under-bonnet surgery.
The most radical changes take place on the 2.0 TDI turbodiesel version, which has been treated to BlueMotion technology. The 125kW turbodiesel engine now has an idle-stop system and energy recuperation.
According to VWSA, this reduces the combined fuel consumption figure from 6.1 litres per 100km to 5.5 l/100km, consequently also cutting the CO2 figure from 159g/km to just 144g/km.
On the petrol front, the 2.0 TSI gets the latest version of VW's 2-litre direct injection turbo petrol engine (also found on the Golf GTI).
This sees the power output rise from 147kW to 155kW and it's more frugal too, with claimed combined consumption dropping from 7.9 l/100km to 7.3 l/100km and with CO2 emissions falling to 171g/km. The 2.0 TSI is also available with VW's six-speed DSG gearbox, this version sipping 7.8 l/100km.
VW has not tinkered under the bonnet of the flagship 220kW 3.6 FSI V6 all-wheel drive version of the CC.
