Volvo Cars South Africa is offering what it calls a lifetime guarantee on genuine parts fitted to out-of-warranty vehicles, but there are a few stipulations.
For starters the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty is non-transferable, meaning it only applies as long as the same customer owns the same vehicle. Sell your car and the cover falls away.
As you might expect, it only applies to repairs that took place at an authorised Volvo dealership using genuine Volvo parts, as you would expect.
In order to take advantage of the cover, owners will need to show the receipt pertaining to the repair in question and prove that they owned the vehicle at the time of the initial parts installation.
“This is effectively a lifetime parts warranty linked to the owner and demonstrates that we have the utmost faith in both Volvo Genuine Parts and the expert Volvo technicians who fit them,” said Hilary Allison, business development director at Volvo Cars SA.
“It’s furthermore an illustration of our commitment to providing a no-fuss ownership experience to loyal customers whose vehicles are no longer covered by our standard or extended manufacturer’s warranty.”
The warranty applies to the part itself and the labour required to fit it, Volvo says.
However Volvo stipulates that this Extended Warranty is subject to it still having the component in stock, and it doesn’t apply to accessories, wear-and-tear components, batteries, consumables, wholesale parts or software that is not associated with a hardware replacement.
Volvo said the initiative was designed to reward loyal owners of otherwise out-of-warranty vehicles with added peace of mind.
