Limpopo police launched a manhunt for one of their own, a police sergeant who allegedly shot and killed his wife in a cold-blooded murder incident.
The wanted police officer also allegedly murdered his domestic worker. The incident happened on Tuesday evening, at the family’s homestead under the Masisi policing area, Vhembe district.
“The police, after being alerted, quickly rushed to the scene, together with paramedics. Upon arrival they found two women lying in a pool of blood. The victims were certified dead at the scene,” said Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, provincial police spokesperson in Limpopo.
Police have since opened two murder cases.
Mashaba said the motive behind the brutal murder is still unknown. However, police said domestic violence cannot be ruled out at this stage.
Meanwhile, provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the investigating team to mobilise all resources at their disposal, to track down the alleged killer.
“A multi-disciplinary team has been assigned and maximum resources mobilised to ensure that investigations are expedited to ultimately bring the suspect to book in order to face the full might of law,” said Hadebe.
“The police will do everything they can to find the suspect, dead or alive.”
Meanwhile, Hadebe has also extended “heartfelt” condolences to the families of the murdered women.
“Anyone with information that can assist in the apprehension of the suspect should contact Sergeant Musumuvhi Muthuphei Theophilus on 082 414 2481, alternatively call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or contact the nearest police station,” the police in Limpopo appealed.
