Today marks nearly a month since SA hip hop was put to a test after many suggested it needed massive resuscitation.

Renowned rapper Big Zulu took the bold steps in efforts to pull artists from a state of hibernation by releasing a fiery diss track that would cause a stir.

In just a matter of hours after its release, “150 Bars” had claimed several spots on the music charts, with Big Zulu claiming the trends as scores of music fanatics weighed in about the fiery music drop.

He also took aim at some of the local hip hop artists in attempts to have them clap back.

This saw music artists such as Cassper Nyovest, Emtee, Stogie T, AKA, Nota, Nasty C, KO, and Duncan catching strays of bullets.

The “Vuma Dlozi” hitmaker made it clear from the onset what his motive was when he brought the track to life, namely to revive and bring back the hip hop excitement.

In a live video, he spoke candidly that hip hop needed the diss track, which he claimed was not aimed at throwing crude remarks at anyone or involving family.

With his track, he believed any artist could do what is right in bringing the spirit of hip hop back.

Many artists were reluctant to clap back at Big Zulu, but their disses brought all the attention the hip hop industry needed.

Big Zulu was hailed for his bold steps as music fans said it was a much-needed attention-grabbing action.

In a short period of time, many artists released impressive albums, while the idea of keeping hip hop alive is still a priority for some.

This past weekend saw massive music drops from artists such as KO, Nasty C and AKA.

Cassper Nyovest recently shared that he would be dropping music soon now that SA hip hop was alive again.

“SA hip hop getting active again. Shout out to everyone who dropped today. Thank you for the love yall showing for my verse on my Nasty C’s loco. New music dropping next week,” said Cassper Nyovest
