A man was killed during an alleged robbery in Tipstone Drive, Phoenix, on Friday morning.

Gareth Naidoo, the spokesperson for KZN Vip Security, said according to reports from the scene the victim was waiting for his transport to work.

"Two suspects held up the victim and while fleeing, they opened fire on him and community members."

Naidoo said their response and ambulance team treated the victim.

"Sadly, the victim was declared deceased."

He said the suspects fled on foot.

Earlier this week, Naidoo said they did crime prevention operations with the Phoenix police.

"Suspicious males were found in possession of knives and other dangerous weapons during these checks. We also received information about multiple locations where stolen goods are being collected and are exchanged in return for cash."
