To celebrate Jaci’s Safari Lodge’s 12th birthday, in Madikwe, the Lodge has undergone a stunning refurbishment, creating an inspiring and fresh “new” look. Designed, built and decorated by Jan and Jaci Van Heteren, Jaci’s Lodges are 100 percent owner run.

Sally and Adele from The Beach House interiors in Hermanus were asked to co-ordinate the interior design. “Our brief from Jaci was to create something unique and colourful - to defy the norm. Jaci wanted to reintroduce the vibrant colours of Africa - found in birds plumage, sunsets/sunrises, insects, flowers, animals, people and patterns of the Land. It had to be ‘Wow’, ‘Unexpected’, ‘Wild’ but more importantly: different yet still comfortable and not out of place,” says Sally.

Sally and Adele, in close consultation with Jaci, introduced an eclectic combination of textured and plain fabrics, glorious prints pulsating with exciting colours and patterns that echoed and complimented the surroundings.

Think fucia pinks, deep purples, stormy blues, electric lime, deep blueberry, orange orange and more, all skillfully blended together to uplift the soul and spirit as you get your first glimpse of the lodge – crossing the swing bridge – creating a breathless expectation…

“The new colours created an energy befitting to a 12 year old safari lodge – ready to celebrate the 12 years ahead with gusto, style and friendliness.

“Testament to this are the ‘gasps and comments’ from our regular guests who immediately feel and see the transformation, admiring the ‘signature’ colour of Jaci’s which naturally enhances the experience, feeling and vibrancy of their stay at the Jaci’s.”
