Nestled in the historic town of Stellenbosch, South Africa's oldest inn d'Ouwe Werf is offering guests a relaxing winelands escape with a choice of four attractive weekend packages just in time for Easter.
The Wine Experience option gives guests one day's access to the Vine Hopper, the famous shuttle service that takes visitors on a day out to discover some of the famous wine estates in the area, and also includes a wine paired dinner on one night of their stay. Those wishing for a more cultural experience can choose the Bites & Sites package, which includes a three-and-a-half hour guided tour through Stellenbosch on Saturday or Monday before enjoying a lazy lunch at the hotel's historic 1802 restaurant.
“Some guests may want to have it all, so we've also prepared a Full Package,” explains Elanie Fourie, General Manager for d'Ouwe Werf. “Running over two days, guests will take the Vine Hopper on one day and enjoy the full cultural tour of Stellenbosch on the other. Of course, if you'd simply like a place to stay over for a night, we also have the basic Bed & Breakfast special at a very affordable rate.”
The hotel, which is a South African National Monument, recently underwent an extensive renovation and refurbishment that saw the addition of 21 new rooms and the refurbishment of all 51 hotel rooms under the guidance of leading interior designer Les Harbottle. “It’s been quite a process, but we have managed to restore this grand old lady to her former glory, and added a distinctive modern edge courtesy of Les’ great work,” says Fourie.
The Bed & Breakfast package is available from R450 per night per person sharing, or R700 for single, and includes a leisurely breakfast.
The Wine Experience package is available from R675 per night per person sharing, or R925 for single, and includes one day's access to the Vine Hopper shuttle.
The Bites & Sites package is available from R815 per night per person sharing, or R1065 for single, and includes a three-and-a-half hour tour through Stellenbosch.
The Full Package is a minimum stay of two nights and is available from R1015 per person sharing, or R1265 for single, and includes one day's access to the Vine Hopper shuttle and a three-and-a-half hour tour through Stellenbosch on the second day.
All packages, except for the Bed & Breakfast special, include a wine-paired dinner on one night of a guest’s stay at the hotel.
The special Easter packages are valid up until 9 April 2012 and are subject to a minimum two-night stay. The packages are available to South African residents only.
