The cruise ship MSC Melody is the first of the MSC Cruises’ fleet of 11 liners to feature the company’s new range of fresh homemade pastas on its menus.
Pappardelle, tagliatelle, caser-ecce, gnocchi, ravioli and much more will be prepared daily by the talented MSC Italian chefs on board. They will also guarantee the tight control of the production process from beginning to end to ensure the unique distinctive flavours of these specialities are perfectly preserved to set guests’ tastebuds tingling
Fine cuisine using only the best-quality ingredients and an ethical approach to fish and other gastronomical delights is the proud standard by which MSC Cruises is known.
MSC Cruises is now also introducing the masterpiece of Italian gastronomy on its menus: fresh home-made pasta. And to guarantee the traditional taste, the pasta will be made from the highest quality semolina from selected Italian mills where the best varieties of durum wheat are used in the grinding.
The company will avoid serving any dishes involving the use of bluefin tuna and, in so doing, support international strategies to safeguard the future of endangered species.
Preference will instead be given to other ingredients and preparations.
The intimate 1 500-capacity MSC Melody is enjoying her last few cruises in South Africa before starting her voyage from Cape Town for Genoa in Italy next week.
Meanwhile, the luxurious 2 100 capacity MSC Sinfonia will continue her busy cruise schedule out of Durban until early May.
Both cruise ships return to South Africa for the 2011/2012 cruise season starting from November. - Saturday Star
