A CO Antrim firm has announced the successful fit-out of a luxury vessel in Singapore.
Mivan said it fitted out the Pacific Pearl in a £2m deal at the end of last year for client Carnival Australia.
The work included speciality restaurants, cafes and bars developed by London designers SMC Design.
The 63 500-ton Pacific Pearl has now had her first cruise from Auckland, joining Carnival Australia's existing fleet of three ships.
The firm has already secured over £4m of cruise ship outfitting orders for 2011 in the Bahamas and Europe, the largest of which is a £2,6m fit-out of the Grand Princess in spring.
Mivan, which employs around 300 people, said it delivered fit-outs worth over £3,5m in the cruise ship sector during 2010. It has also won its first deal with the five-star cruise line Crystal Cruises for the fit-out of two retail areas onboard the Crystal Serenity based in Toronto, Canada. It will work with SMC Design on the Royal Princess conversion to the new Adonia for Carnival UK.
Mivan business development director Stephen Mills said the work would secure jobs at the company. “The cruise ship market continues to be an important part of Mivan's business and much of the credit must go to the consistent quality of our specialist joinery and project management teams,” he said. - Belfast Telegraph
