Essie, a black and white Angolan colobus monkey has been born at the Mystic Monkeys and Feathers Wildlife Park in Rust de Winter north of Pretoria - the first Angolan colobus to be born in a South African Zoo.

Zeta, the mother, and her new baby are pictured above.

Essie and her mother are leaf-eating monkeys and can live up to 30 years in captivity.

Mystic Monkeys & Feathers Wildlife Park has lemurs, sloths, Angolan black and white colobus, mandrill, white-handed gibbon and cotton-top tamarins, chimpanzees, tigers and lions.

Visit for a day or sleep over at nearby Tshukudu Lodge.
