It is perhaps not a video to show nervous fliers, but footage on YouTube of scary plane landings at Dusseldorf Airport has gone viral, with more than 2,8 million viewings in less than a month.

German plane spotter Martin Bogdan filmed the nerve-racking footage, showing planes landing during strong crosswinds at the international hub.

With winds of 35 knots, and gusts of up to 55 knots, the aircraft are shown wobbling precariously as they touch down, and even approaching the runway at an angle to compensate for the windy conditions.

The video shows planes from well-known airlines such as Thomas Cook and Air Berlin negotiating the descent as the wind blows them off course.

The Thomas Cook plane is even forced to abandon its first attempt at landing and circle round to try again.

More than 700 people have commented on the video, with some plane enthusiasts discussing the logistics of the landings in detail and many complimenting the pilots on their impressive skill.

A user calling himself rockhardliver said: “Airline Pilots deserve every $ they make and more. They are special human beings.”

Billykiddo agrees, saying: “That’s why they get paid the big bucks.”

Veroruizz added: “We are in good hands.”

Mr Bogdan said he has received “incredible” feedback.

The video, which is over nine minutes long, was uploaded on January 5. – Daily Mail
