Last week Great Wine Capitals South Africa voted it as the Best of Wine Tourism winner for 2012, joining other icons in France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Argentina, New Zealand and California as destinations that gourmet travellers will want to visit.
The annual Best of Wine Tourism awards are judged in member countries using categories that include accommodation, architecture and landscape, art and culture, innovative tourism experiences, sustainable tourism practices, restaurants and tourism services. La Motte won the arts and culture category and scored well in the others.
SA category winners are Delaire (accommodation), Waterkloof (architecture and landscape), Solms Delta (innovative tourism), Waverley Hills (sustainable tourism), Tokara (restaurant) and Waterform (tourism service). - Weekend Argus
