Paris - People going abroad who suffer from food allergies can find help on a website where they can download a wordlist of more than 200 ingredients, from nuts and shellfish to soya and gluten, that have been translated into 30 languages.

The list, available on food-info.net/allergy.htm, can be shown in restaurants when ordering a meal and to compare ingredients on food labels and packagings, say the compilers, from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.

Most European languages are covered, along with Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, Bahasa Indonesia and Swahili.
