WITH another long weekend around the corner, lovers of cheese and wine can win five double tickets to the South African Cheese Festival.

The event will be held in Sandringham just outside of Stellenbosch next weekend.

Hosted outdoors, the three day festival includes pairing wines and an array of cheese, artisanal food, beer, gin and more. And those with a competitive streak can try their hand at a cheese carving competition.

Guests can also look forward to:

* Tasting and stock up on quality produce from a hand-picked collection of artisanal creations, including small cheese makers’ unique handmade cheeses. Cape Cape: taste the alternatives such as olives, berries, and cherries directly from the farm, as well as fresh oysters, vegan delights and roosterkoek.

* Taste and buy delicious wines, craft beers and gins from the region and put together your own pairings.

* Enjoy live music with top artists performing, such as Will Linley, Watershed, Flat Stanley, Ard Matthews, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Kurt Darren, and other local musicians throughout the day.

* Join well-known celebrity chefs and winemakers for three Travel & Taste sessions a day at no extra cost. Chefs include Tiaan Langenegger of “Tiaan Proe” (daily) and Neels van Jaarsveld (Sunday); chef Isabella Niehaus (Monday); the Chenin Blanc Association (Saturday); and chef Jenny Morris (Saturday). Space is limited.

* Take the family to meet the friendly cows and goats at the Afgri Feeds Milk Factory.

The festival runs from 10am to 6pm daily. Tickets are R290 per person per day and children 12 years and under enter for free. Tickets are available at Webtickets and Pick n Pay.
