BY THE sheer weight of numbers, the annual Totalsports Women’s Race has become South Africa’s premier Women’s Month celebration and this year Cape Town, Durban and Joburg will host mass participation, women-only events.

After a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19, the Totalsports Women’s Race will return to the streets in the major cities, starting with Durban (August 4), Cape Town (August 9) and Joburg (August 17).

Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and grannies will be expected to kickstart Women’s Month celebrations in style when they lace up their running shoes and hit the roads.

Since the event started in 2001, it has created an unforgettable experience for women of all ages and backgrounds.

Totalsports head of marketing Nikki Crous has urged runners to secure their spot at the start line before entries run out.

“The Totalsports Women’s Race caters for social runners and elite athletes,” said Crous.

“This event is a celebration of women’s strength and empowerment, providing a platform for women from all backgrounds to come together in a high-energy, supportive environment in aid of PinkDrive (a breast cancer awareness drive).

“In 2024, entrants can look forward to an even bigger and better Women’s Celebration, as we feature an impressive elite race, a fantastic on-route experience, live performances by a well-known South African artist, and an event atmosphere like no other.

“As race day approaches, entries start to sell out quickly. We urge runners and walkers to secure their spots while entries are available. Join us and thousands of women across three cities at the Totalsports Women’s Race this August #LoveTheRun.”
