THE Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) is reaching out to animal lovers, urging them to join its Guardian Programme as it continues its critical mission to rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned wildlife across KwaZulu-Natal.

With a staggering annual count of 3,000 to 4,000 wildlife emergencies, CROW’s work is indispensable, addressing the urgent needs that arise from escalating human-wildlife conflict.

From birds and monkeys to genets, duikers, and mongooses, CROW is at the frontline of wildlife care, ensuring that no animal is turned away in its time of need.

Clint Halkett-Siddall, Operations Director at CROW, emphasizes the importance of every rescue: “At CROW, no animal is turned away. Every life matters, and every rescue counts. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and ultimately release wildlife back into their natural habitats, giving each animal a second chance at life.”

However, this vital work hinges on the unwavering support of the public. To sustain its operations, CROW has launched the Guardian Programme, inviting passionate individuals to become active participants in wildlife conservation. Contributions start from as little as R50 per month, which can cover essential costs such as food, medical treatment, and care for animals on the road to recovery.

To sweeten the deal and encourage more supporters to join the cause, CROW is offering an exciting incentive. New Guardians who sign up will be entered into a lucky draw with a chance to win an exhilarating getaway, featuring a two-night stay at Umhlanga Sands or a meal voucher for the popular Mozambique Restaurant at Galleria Mall. Existing Guardians will also have a chance to win, reinforcing the community spirit that CROW nurtures.

Join the ranks of passionate wildlife advocates and help give South Africa’s animals a fighting chance. Together, we can make a significant impact and ensure that every animal gets the care it deserves.
