USHAKA Marine World's Wet ’n Wild Waterpark will temporarily close next month to allow for essential maintenance and refurbishment work.

The Waterpark will shut from Monday, 4 May 2026, and is expected to reopen on Saturday, 23 May 2026, with the closure set to last about three weeks.

According to uShaka Marine World, the timing of the maintenance has been planned to coincide with the attraction’s low season in an effort to minimise disruption to visitors.

The work will focus on several key features, including the park’s three highest slides, the popular 5-Lane Racer slides, and the resurfacing of a number of pools across the facility.

While Wet ’n Wild will be closed during this period, other attractions at uShaka Marine World will remain open to the public. These include Sea World, Kids World, Sea Animal Encounters and Dangerous Creatures.

Recently, the eThekwini Municipality also announced that uShaka Marine World will receive a donation of renewable energy and energy efficiency assets from the eThekwini Climate Change Division. A report presented to the eThekwini Executive Committee outlined the donation plan.

The report noted that uShaka Marine World has already benefited from the installation of renewable energy systems and energy efficiency technologies, which are fully operational and delivering measurable energy and environmental benefits.

Visitors and stakeholders have been encouraged to take note of the closure dates and plan their visits accordingly.

uShaka Marine World apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked the public for their continued support during the planned improvements.
