Cycle Sunday has returned for the holiday season, and it is one of the many activities families could find joy in.
It takes over Durban’s iconic M4 highway, where it is expected to be a car-free cycling haven on the December 14 just in time for the peak summer holiday season.
The freeway will be open to cyclists from 5am to 9am. it is a non-competitive event making it perfect for kids and first time riders, to recreational riders, weekend warriors, and seasoned cyclists.
Entry is R50. Participants have the freedom to ride as far as they wish within the 31km route, allowing them to choose any distance they prefer. This event will provide a traffic free freeway, water points on route fun activities, ample space for families and slower riders and a relaxed holiday atmosphere.
Shaun Peschi, founder of Peschi Sports, said the event was great for families to unwind.
“This is Durban at its best during summer. Sunshine, ocean views, families, outdoors, and communities coming together. The first Cycle Sunday exceeded our expectations, showing us that South Africans want safe, accessible spaces to cycle. We are excited to bring it back for the holidays and give residents and visitors something truly special to enjoy,” said Peschi.
