Western Province and Free State will contest the prestigious main game at the Coca-Cola Craven Week in Stellenbosch on Saturday (kickoff 1.30pm).
The two sides, among only five teams that won both of their earlier games (the others are Limpopo, Griffons and Zimbabwe), were undoubtedly the class acts this week.
Western Province beat KwaZulu-Natal 29-22 in a thriller on day one and then handled the wet conditions well to beat the Lions 18-17 in their second encounter.
Free State hammered the Blue Bulls 39-17 in their first game and followed this up with an 18-3 win over a plucky Pumas side.
The Craven Week is purely a festival, with no league points and no trophy, so a place in the last game of the week - the unofficial final - is the only team prize on offer.
The Golden Lions were unlucky to lose to Western Province on Wednesday in atrocious weather conditions and it took an injury-time penalty to give Province the win, and the main game spot that went with it.
The Blue Bulls, despite their 68-0 thrashing of the Falcons on Thursday, will play the third-last game, where they will meet KwaZulu-Natal.
Zimbabwe, in one of their best Craven Weeks for years, beat Border Country and Border and certainly deserved to play on the main field today.
Tradition, however, demands that they play their annual schools "international" against Namibia on the final day of the Craven Week, and they will open the proceedings on the B field.
South African A and B teams for Newlands next Saturday will be announced after the final game.
Saturday's Programme - C Field: 9am Border vs Border Country Districts, 10.10am Leopards vs Boland. B Field: 9am Zimbabwe vs Namibia, 10.20am Griquas vs Eastern Province. A Field: 8pm Limpopo v Falcons, 9.20am SWD vs Griffons, 10.40am KwaZulu-Natal vs Blue Bulls, 12pm Lions vs Pumas, 1.30pm Western Province vs Free State.
