Saturday's Super 14 clash between the Sharks and the Chiefs at Durban's Absa Stadium at 7pm is going to be a traffic stopper - literally.
If Saturday's earlier Super 14 results go in favour of the Sharks they could land up second on the log with a home semi-final - and because of the sellout crowd expected to be there to support their team, there will be several road diversions in the area.
Most changes will affect Walter Gilbert Road running past the front of the stadium.
According to the stadium safety officer, Derek Moorhouse, motorists will be permitted to travel west from Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR Avenue) to Umgeni Road from 12.30pm.
Traffic will not be permitted to travel east on Walter Gilbert Road towards NMR Avenue from Umgeni Road.
Moorhouse said there will be no parking in Walter Gilbert other than for physically disabled drivers who will be allowed to park in front of the Shark Cage.
Traffic police will also re-direct traffic, permitting only one-way traffic from Goble Road to Masabalala Yengwa Avenue from 9am.
Jacko Jackson Drive will be a one-way from Goble Road.
Only people with parking permits to Berea Rovers and stadium complex and Kings Park parking will be allowed.
"We are appealing to people not coming to rugby to bypass the area," said Moorhouse.
He said the designated drop-off and pick-up zones for people travelling from the northern areas will be on Masabalala Yengwa Avenue at the Country Club opposite the Archery Club.
He said those dropping people off must continue to Walter Gilbert and back onto the Northern freeway.
Those coming from the opposite direction from Masabalala Yengwa Avenue into Walter Gilbert should drop off and pick up in front of the new soccer stadium gates.
Parking and turnstiles will be opened at 3pm and 3.30pm respectively.
