Golden Arrows have got little time to celebrate their MTN8 semi-final success against AmaZulu at the weekend.
Abafana Bes'thende, or Boys of the Heel, jump straight back into league action on Wednesday when they host Platinum Stars in an afternoon kick at Chatsworth Stadium.
In fact, coach Manqoba Mngqithi has told his players to forget about the MTN8 final against Ajax Cape Town on September 26 for now and stay focused for the many league matches they have to play before that, according to chairman Mato Madlala.
Not only are Mngqithi's men through to the final of a Cup competition for the first time in the club's nine-year history in the Premier Soccer League, they are also top of the league standings at the moment.
They will be protecting a five-match unbeaten run tomorrow against a Platinum side who will be looking for their first win of the season.
And with Platinum boasting players such as Dillon Sheppard, Edward Williams and Mbulelo Mabizela, they are capable of bringing Arrows down to earth should Mngqithi's men still be in a celebratory mood.
"I think the players have learned that it is about how much you want it. That applies in the Cup and the league," said Madlala.
"They have been working hard and must continue to do so.
"As the coach says, they must forget about the Cup and concentrate on the league.
"The technical staff are very committed and that also makes me confident of success."
The league matches will continue right until the Wednesday before the Cup final takes place on a Saturday, such is the congestion this season.
Arrows will have to worry about injuries and suspensions closer to the time.
For now, league points are crucial.
Coach Mngqithi must be happy that players from different departments are scoring goals, which takes pressure off top scorer Richard Henyekane.
Central defender Joseph Musonda and attacking midfielder Njabulo Manqana found the net against AmaZulu at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday night, while central midfielder Musa Bilankulu hit the target twice in the 2-0 league win Jomo Cosmos at the same venue last Wednesday.
But Henyekane will nevertheless want to get his account going in the league.
Meanwhile, Madlala said she would probably speak to Ajax boss John Comitis on Thursday about where they believe the final should be played.
"We will be seeing each other at an executive meeting of the PSL and, since we get on well, I'm sure we will settle on a venue amicably. What is important is that the pitch must be good and accommodation must be plentiful and up to scratch," said Madlala.
"For this reason, I don't think Port Elizabeth will host the final. A venue in Johannesburg might be okay."
