Baby Monkey Punch, the viral sensation from Ichikawa City Zoo, has finally found companionship, but his fans are torn over his new friendship.

Punch, known globally for his viral videos showing him being rejected by his peers at the zoo, has finally found acceptance, but his fans are not pleased with the new friend.
The little Japanese macaque, from Ichikawa City Zoo in Chiba, Japan, had captured global attention. Previously abandoned by his mother and rejected by his fellow macaques, he found his only comfort in a beloved monkey plush toy, specifically, an IKEA stuffed orangutan.
He went viral because he carried the toy everywhere, especially after being mistreated by other macaques. The plush reportedly acted as his "mother" and refuge when he was bullied. Videos show him being mistreated by other animals, after which he goes to hide with his plush toy.
New footage, however, reveals Punch has been embraced by a caring, live monkey friend, receiving the affection he seemed to seek from the plush. Ironically, this development has sparked a mixed reaction among his online followers, who are also visiting the zoo now just to watch him.
Fans are highly invested in Punch's story, with many expressing unhappiness over his new companionship. Some are demanding live feeds or new videos to check on his current well-being and attachment levels.
