Homecoming events will host their seventh Sun City Takeover, and the excitement among patrons is high, so much so that package tickets sold out within an hour.

Popularly known as Fon City,  the Sun City Takeover 2026 will take place from November 6–9 at Sun City Resort. The annual event brings together young, experience-driven professionals from all over the country for four days of fun and bliss at the beautiful resort.

The Homecoming Events have built a strong reputation for hosting stellar curated music and lifestyle experiences. At the Sun City Takeover, they take the experience to a whole new level at the resort.

Homecoming Events hosted media at the launch of the Sun City Takeover 2026 and the team reflected on their journey and unpacked their plans. An event that began in 2020 under restrictions with just 500 patrons is now targeting 3500.

“We've been growing and trying to make more things available. We've got more packages, more events going on for this year, and a lot more access for a lot more people,” said Athabile Ngxamngxa, Managing Director of Homecoming Events

Ngxamngxa revealed that this year, a golf tournament will be introduced in partnership with the Homecoming Foundation. “We are raising funds to be able to replace pit toilets in underprivileged homes.”

Homecoming Foundation aims to raise R500 000, and Sun City has pledged to match the amount that will be raised.

“I really want to encourage that anybody, or any thrill-seeking young person who wants a well-curated experience, where from the moment you arrive at the resorts, everything is thought of, everything is taken care of.

“You know exactly where to go, you know when you should be going to the valley, what kind of experience it is in the valley, what are the themes, what are the different things that you need to wear, what should you look out for.”

South African luxury streetwear brand GalXBoy returns as a partner, and they are going all out when it comes to how they will be curating day clubs and the merchandise they will be releasing.

Thatiso Dube, GalXBoy founder, joked that this year’s beach towel design will be “social media friendly” following last year’s social media outcry, after the towel designs were compared to the Israeli flag.

“Basically, my idea today was like we need to find everybody a place where people can chill for the party, just after the party, drink, and that's how we came up with the day club.

“This year we're going bigger, better, amplified experience, and I think this is a great initiative because it shows people around the country what a place like Sun City can be, because all of us, when you say Sun City, you think in family, you think in gambling

"But once you work with younger people and allow them to bring their ideas to life, you get something like this. This is something that's going to go on for many years.”

Sun City Resort General Manager Brett Hoppe joked that his daughters would be going on quite the spending spree at GalXBoy. “It's incredible to see how partnerships have come along with us on the journey, and the power of what we are able to achieve through visualisation of something which at the outset appears to be very small.

“This really is so representative of what our entertainment space in South Africa should and could look like. It is so representative of what we are capable of as South Africans.”

The highly anticipated Sun City Takeover 2026 has officially sold out within an hour of ticket packages going live, cementing its status as one of South Africa’s fastest-growing lifestyle events.

Hoppe also revealed that Homecoming Events Sun City Takeover is the fastest-selling event at Sun City, and this was proved when the ticket package sales went live at 1.30 pm, they were already sold out by 2.30pm, leaving those stuck in the queue very upset.

The Homecoming Events team aims to give patrons a world-class experience, and they are elevating things when it comes to the 2026 edition. Oratile Sangweni, the Events and Executions Director, teased that there is something special planned for this year's Sun City Takeover.

“Our goal is that when you come for your seventh year, you still leave saying, ‘Wow, I want to come back next year and make it my 8th’.”

The Sun City Takeover is a full-on experience that allows patrons to experience Sun City differently. A spa treatment at the Royal Spa after a fun night of dancing and nothing brings friends together like good activities and quad biking, segway, and some virtual reality game, Vortex of Africa Reality Lounge are a must try.
