“Now That I Found You”, the latest novel by Alpheus Masoga, is a contemporary romance that explores how love can grow from pain and how healing can emerge from heartbreak.
At its heart are Ethan and Olivia, two people who meet by chance but whose connection quickly becomes life-changing.
Ethan was abandoned as a child and grew up on the streets, forced to find his strength in survival. Olivia, on the other hand, was raised by her father after losing her mother at birth.
She is strong and independent, but quietly yearns for something deeper.
Their story begins when Olivia stops at a petrol station, and one small act of kindness toward Ethan sparks something powerful. What follows is a journey of self-discovery, forgiveness and love that transforms both their lives.
“They both understand life and losses,” Masoga explained.
“They realise that they can be stronger together and overcome challenges as a team.”
The author said that the novel was inspired by real experiences and people who have shaped his understanding of love. “Love can find you unexpectedly,” he said.
“If you hold hands, love can grow into something beautiful.”

Masoga described the relationship between Ethan and Olivia as a reflection of many modern relationships - imperfect but full of potential for growth and healing.
“They both have scars, but their love heals them and shines their journey together in a healthy and prosperous way,” he said.
He believes what makes the book stand out in the crowded romance genre is its honesty and the way it speaks directly to the reader’s emotions.
“It’s a unique story, and the conversations between the characters can build the reader and make them recognise what genuine desire and love feel like when partners are in love,” he explained.
“It also relates to people who are single and those who know what they want.”
For Masoga, one of the key messages of the book is the importance of appreciating love when it comes. “Love is a blessing,” he said.
“When you find someone who feels the same way, never take them for granted, but be appreciative and nurture your love together.”
Writing the novel also deepened his own understanding of what love and healing mean.
“Love is powerful; it connects hearts and minds,” he said.
“An ordinary couple can turn into an extraordinary couple by building something strong and beautiful together. Healing is important so that you don't sabotage your relationship with toxic behaviours.”
Masoga defined love simply as energy and choice.
“Love is energy and the choice to choose each other,” he said. “It’s expressed through words matched by action and mutual effort.”
He also acknowledged that love today faces unique pressures.
“Modern relationships have many challenges,” he reflected.
“Many people don’t know what they want. They’re pressured by social media and external forces, and they set unrealistic expectations. Many don’t focus on healing and self-improvement. That’s why there are more toxic relationships than healthy ones.”
