Trevor Noah has received a nomination for Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording for his reading of his illustrated fable, “Into the Uncut Grass”, at the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

The nominations were announced on Friday, November 7, and this marks another milestone in Noah’s evolving creative journey.

Known globally as a comedian, author and television host, Noah continues to expand his storytelling across different mediums.

In this category, he joins a select group of artists whose works showcase exceptional narration and the power of voice-driven storytelling.

“Into the Uncut Grass” follows the success of Noah’s acclaimed memoir “Born a Crime", which explored his experiences growing up in South Africa as the son of a black mother and a white father during and after apartheid.

While “Born a Crime" offered a deeply personal and often humorous reflection on identity and survival, “Into the Uncut Grass” shifts into the realm of tale and imagination.

Created in collaboration with illustrator Sabina Hahn, the book is an imaginative fable about conflict, empathy and understanding.

It tells the story of a young boy who, hoping to escape his chores, ventures into the uncut grass in search of adventure. His loyal companion, a bear named Walter, warns him of the dangers but decides to follow him anyway.

As they journey deeper into the grass, the pair encounters a gnome who offers them an important lesson: “Every person is just an obstacle unless you try to understand them. Even your own mother.”

Through this experience, the boy and Walter come to realise the value of empathy, communication and peace within relationships.

Although presented as a children’s story, “Into the Uncut Grass” carries universal themes that resonate with adults as well.

Noah has said that the story is designed to be read aloud or alone, and that the meaning of the tale shifts depending on one’s stage in life. It blends simplicity with emotional depth, encouraging readers to reflect on how they connect with others.

The audiobook version, narrated by Noah himself, brings his distinctive voice and timing to the story, making the experience intimate and engaging for listeners.

His ability to convey humour, warmth and sincerity through narration has contributed to the nomination.

Noah’s connection to the Grammy Awards extends beyond this year’s nomination. He has hosted the prestigious ceremony several times, earning praise for his sharp wit and composure on the global stage.

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles.
