Shalate Sekhabi has announced her upcoming EP “Xa Ungekho”, set to release on September 26, on the back of her departure from popular e.tv drama “House of Zwide”.

Sekhabi has, in the last four years, captivated TV viewers as Shoki in "House of Zwide", before leaving the show in July this year.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Sekhabi bid an emotional farewell to her beloved character. She expressed her appreciation to the entire crew and fans who supported her throughout her four-year journey as Shoki.

“My heart is filled with so much gratitude. Farewell Shoki! Thank you so much to everyone who has embraced and loved Shoki over the years. It’s because of this character that I’ve become a household name and got my start in this industry,” said Sekhabi.

The 25-year-old actress also landed the role of Nthabi in Netflix’s young-adult series "Go!" earlier this year. It was about a young athlete who’s given a second chance at life after being offered a track scholarship.

After five years with “House of Zwide”, she shared that she was ready for new ventures and a new chapter. It seems that her calling in music has taken up again, and she is answering with her upcoming project.

The singer-actress revealed that her upcoming EP, “Xa Ungekho”, which means “When You Are Not Here”, is close to her heart and would appreciate support from her fans.

“I’m so excited to share this body of work with you guys because I feel like it’s so personal to me, it’s my heart,” she said.

The Netflix star has previously released singles in 2020 and 2022; she later released her debut EP, “Love Is…” in 2023.
