DJ and music producer Chymamusique, born Collen Ntala Mmotla, took to social media on Monday, September 8, to update fans on his condition following a serious car accident.

Known for his infectious house beats, Chymamusique has become a household name in South Africa’s music scene

Hits like “Lost in Words”, “We Are to Be” and “Celebrate & Praise” have earned him critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase, as well as performances at major music festivals across the country.

In his statement, Chymamusique shared: “Chymamusique is out of ICU as of now - four successful operations, one outstanding. Still hospitalised until further notice. Thank you for your prayers and support during the toughest times.”

The DJ also paid tribute to his late friend and fellow DJ and producer Poizen, whose real name was Caven Masetla.

Poizen’s tracks, such as “Uthando”, “Amen for 8 Years Prayer” and “Is’nqanda Mathe” resonated widely, making him a star in the music community.

The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 30, when the two artists were travelling together.

While Chymamusique survived the crash, Poizen sadly passed away at the scene.

The sudden loss of Poizen has sent shockwaves through the music industry and among fans, with his burial taking place over the past weekend in his hometown in Limpopo.

The news has triggered an outpouring of support on social media, with fans and fellow artists sharing messages of sympathy, prayers, and encouragement.

DJ C-Live wrote, “Eish bro. I am so sorry for your ordeal and the loss of your friend.”

Phutu Brown added, “Thank you, God, for saving his life… to the affected families, condolences.”

Athenkosi Lolwana also offered words of encouragement, stating, “Great news. Speedy recovery, bro. God is with you. We also pray that God will not allow this to happen again.”
