Kelly Khumalo is once again making headlines, this time for calling out the fathers of her children during her sit-down interview on L-Tido’s podcast.

On the episode that aired on October 1, the singer and reality star did not hold back when asked about her personal life, saying she has had to carry the full responsibility of raising her children without much support from their fathers.

“I have never received any support, even financially,” Kelly said. “They are all useless – well, except for one, Senzo Meyiwa. If he were here, trust me, he would have been hands-on and responsible.”

Khumalo, who has three children with different partners, made it clear that the late Meyiwa was different.

She praised the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, saying he was an involved parent who took his role seriously before his tragic death in 2014.

This is not the first time Khumalo has voiced her frustrations. On Father’s Day, she called out her ex-partner, Jub Jub, on social media, rejecting the common excuse that mothers block fathers from seeing their kids.

She argued that some men use this as a way to escape responsibility, saying, “The mother doesn’t want me to see the child.”

The “Empini” singer and Jub Jub share a son, Christian. The pair’s relationship was marked by controversy and a public fallout with claims of alleged abuse.

Her daughter, Thingolenkosazana, was fathered by Meyiwa, while her youngest child’s father is speculated to be retired football player Mthokozisi Yende.

Beyond the issues with her children’s fathers, Khumalo also opened up about the ongoing weight of being asked about Meyiwa’s death

Host L-Tido asked her how she has been dealing with Meyiwa’s death, and she expressed frustration over how interviews constantly circle back to the tragedy, despite her efforts to heal and move forward.

“It’s been 14 years since Senzo passed away,” L-Tido said in the interview.

“I’ve done so many podcasts about the same thing over and over. It’s exhausting. I’ve moved on, I’ve healed, I’ve dealt with my losses.

“And by the way, Senzo is not the only person I’ve lost in life. I’ve lost cousins, I’ve lost sisters. Why is the focal point just this one particular one? Because it pleases our society to talk about.”

She also added that there’s more to her than just “one incident” that happened to her.

However, that “one incident” continues to follow her. Khumalo has been linked to the murder case from the beginning, with her name surfacing repeatedly during court proceedings.

Meyiwa was shot and killed at her Vosloorus home in October 2014, in what was initially believed to be a robbery gone wrong. Over the years, however, investigators have suggested it may have been a planned hit.

Testimony from two of the accused killers placed Khumalo at the centre of the alleged plot, with claims that she ordered and paid for the attack.

The Pretoria High Court heard that payments were allegedly made to the men involved, with figures ranging between R30 000 and R100 000.

Cellphone records presented in court also showed communication between Khumalo and one of the accused in the weeks leading up to the murder.
