The competition is on as "The Real Housewives of Durban" cast members Sorisha Naidoo and Jojo Robinson have been nominated for the same award at the prestigious Africa Choice Awards.

The awards, now in their 7th year, recognise the outstanding achievements in the entertainment, fashion and creative industry and winners are voted for online by the general public and fans.

The "Housewives" will go head-to-head with other nominees from South Africa, including Sweet Guluva and Vuyiswa Nyauza, for the title of Reality Star of the Year.

Nigeria's Adeola C Adeyemi, Dabota Lawson and Sule Kingsley and Kenyan reality stars Carey Priscilla, Jackie Matubia and Lynne Njihia are also in the running for the prize.

Naidoo has been a beloved cast member of "The Real Housewives of Durban" since its debut in 2021, while Jojo Robinson joined the franchise in its second season in 2022.

The show has become a part of television history, standing out as the longest-running "Housewives" franchise in Africa.

The Africa Choice Awards will highlight numerous other categories this year, including Actor Of The Year and Female Personality Of The Year, showcasing talents from across the continent.

South African nominees for Male Movie Star of the Year include Vuyo Dabula, Bonko Khoza, Sphamandla Dhludhlu, Abdul Khoza and Thapelo Mokoena, who will battle it out with other countries in Africa.

Thembi Seete, Lunathi Mampofu, Zenande Mfenyana, Nunu Khumalo, Lerato Mvelase, Natasha Thahane, Linda Sokhulu and Gaisang Keaikitse Noge are in the running for Female Stars of the Year.

Clint Brink and Wiseman Zitha are in the running for Male TV Star of the Year, while Zozibini Tunzi, Mihlali Ndamase and Lasizwe have earned nods for Social Star of the Year.

The competition for Viewers' Choice of the Year is hotly contested with Mawhoo, Anele Mdoda, Londie London and Tshepo Pitso battling for the prize.

Next year, the awards will take place in South Africa, and the organisers promise a spectacular event.

"Next year, we’re not just hosting an award show. We’re bringing the heat, the heritage, and the pride of the continent - because…THE CULTURE REIGNS," they wrote on Instagram.
