Yoh, it’s tough being a celebrity when your fans are ready to drag you faster than you can drop a new single. Doja Cat (real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini) knows this pain all too well.

Last year, she was making headlines with her cool yet controversial hit “Paint the Town Red”, a song that had everyone blasting it in their cars. And now fans are disappointed.

Eish, you can never win.

She recently clapped back after some people threw shade at the opening night of her "Ma Vie World Tour" in New Zealand. Fans were quick to point out (as they always do) that her show lacked visuals, structure and outfit changes.

The US rapper didn’t hold back in her response, saying, “I make music for people who enjoy music. I’m not a Broadway act.”

Facts, not a statement.

It’s not the first time the 30-year-old has clashed with her audience.

There’s been chatter that she “hates” her fans when criticised, but sis has made it very clear: the opinions of others are not going to stop her from performing or making the music she loves.

Fans were comparing her latest tour to previous ones, with one posting, “No shade, the 'Vie' tour just gives Scarlet with different outfits.”

Another chimed in, “Hopefully she listens to the criticism.”

The pop singer responded: “I won’t and I don’t need you."

And if that doesn’t scream Mzansi energy - unfiltered, feisty, and full of “don’t mess with me” - I don’t know what does.

Some fans weren’t too impressed with her wardrobe either. Because the music is not what's important here, people, outfits matter!

Give me a break.

One asked, “No outfit changes this era, too…?” The singer clapped back, “I’m singing my MUSIC for the people who want to hear me SING.”

And when another fan tried to excuse her, saying, “I usually be on Doja’s side when she clock kittens but… girl, is say your label ain’t give you budget and keep it pushing.”

The "MASC" singer wasn’t having it: “You can’t do what I do, and the more I do it, the more it will bend you out of shape enough to go on the internet and write a think piece. You disappoint me.”

She even added the ultimate mic drop: “You follow me but you don’t really care about my music.”

Meanwhile, Doja Cat has earned over 4 billion streams on Spotify for the year 2025.
