Zodwa Wabantu is back in the headlines after a fan tore her G-string during a club performance, an incident she is embracing with her characteristic humour.
The dancer was performing at “Destiny Lounge” when the moment happened.
As she did what she is best known for, a fan reached out, grabbed her underwear and snapped it off. Instead of being upset, the star decided to laugh it off and share the moment with her followers.
She posted a snippet of the video on Instagram and added a playful caption: “Ngifuniseni lomuntu bandla 🤣😂🤣ungi dabulele iG-string 😂😂😂🙈” which translates to “help me find this person, they tore my G-string.”
Zodwa is known for her bold and unconventional performances and for being her authentic self. It is part of her brand to dance in her underwear or sometimes with nothing underneath during her bookings.
She is known for not stopping her fans from touching her exposed parts during her sets.
Her shock value has extended beyond the dance floor. In 2023, the “Zodwa Wabantu: Uncensored” star surprised many when she appeared on Instagram dressed in ancestral attire. Her followers immediately assumed she was starting the process of becoming a sangoma.
She later clarified the situation in an interview with “IOL” and explained that she had accepted a calling but insisted she was not a sangoma and was not heading to an initiation school.
“I have recently accepted a calling, but this is a different kind of ubizo (calling). I’m not a sangoma. I’m not going to an initiation school for sangomas. I am Inkosazana ya Manzi,” she said.
During this spiritual period, the TV star continued with her performances and was often seen wearing her traditional beads on stage. This sparked mixed reactions, with some people saying it was disrespectful to her spiritual journey, while others felt she had every right to live it in her own way.
True to her nature, Zodwa has once again turned a moment of chaos into entertainment because when it comes to the controversial entertainer, nothing about her is ever predictable.
