Popular South African YouTuber and influencer Lasizwe Dambuza has checked himself into a mental wellness retreat, opening up candidly about his struggles with burnout and depression.
“This year has been mentally challenging. I’m burnt out. I’m depressed,” Dambuza told fans in a social media post on Tuesday after arriving at the facility.
He shared that he will be spending a few weeks at the retreat, which means he will be offline and unable to interact with his followers over the festive season, including wishing them a Merry Christmas, as he will not have access to his phone during his stay.
“I wish people could take mental health seriously. And to you watching this, please find someone in your community, in your family, your friendship, to speak to regarding your feelings, your emotions. Find professional help,” he encouraged those who may be struggling.
“We're back here again,” he added, reminding followers that this is not the first time he has voluntarily admitted himself into a wellness facility.
In the caption accompanying his post, Dambuza revealed that he has handed over his social media accounts to his management team, who will be running them while he focuses on his recovery.
“I’m surrounded by professional help and can’t wait to come home stronger and ready to kick off the new year stronger!” wrote the YouTuber.
Just weeks ago, the 27-year-old hinted that he would be stepping back this December. Speaking to Independent Media, he said, “This festive season, I am out. I am going to regenerate, get back my energy so that in January I can kill it like I killed it this year.”
Looking further ahead, Dambuza also shared his hopes for the future. When asked about his plans for 2026, he revealed that becoming a father is high on his list.
“There is one big project I am working on - I am working on getting pregnant,” he said.
