South African rapper Emtee (real name Mthembeni Ndevu) recently released a statement apologising to his fans after videos of him dozing off while performing on stage went viral.
Taking to social media on Thursday, December 18, he shared that his actions were impacted by fatigue because of his back-to-back shows in the country.
“We, eMtee Records, extend our sincerest apologies to fans who attended eMtee’s performance in Pretoria on December 16, Reconciliation Day."
“Following an exceptionally busy summer season with back-to-back shows across the country, eMtee had an ambitious schedule on December 16, performing at five venues - a testament to his dedication to connecting with fans,” the statement reads.
Multiple fans shared videos of the rapper literally dozing off on stage while murmuring a few words of his songs before they took him away.
Imagine paying to go see someone perform, only for them to not do anything for the entire performance? I would be disappointed too.
The 33-year-old shared a video of himself performing in Vaal, with vibrant energy on stage before he went to Pretoria.
This left fans confused that he had so much energy in Vaal but in Pretoria, it was the opposite.
In addition, in the statement, the rapper revealed that he acknowledges that he disappointed his fans who were excited to see him perform.
“Unfortunately, the demanding pace took its toll, and fatigue impacted his ability to deliver the high-energy show our fans expect in Pretoria.
“We acknowledge the disappointment this caused and appreciate the understanding of our loyal supporters. eMtee is deeply sorry for falling short of expectations and is committed to making it right.”
The “Pearl Thusi” hitmaker further added that as a way to make it up to his fans, he is going to do a follow-up show in Pretoria again to deliver an “unforgettable performance they deserve.”
Fans had a lot to say about the incident.
“Every year, Emtee is apologising for something,” @lerato_mokhuoane shared.
“That was not fatigue though, bro needs discipline. We all know what it was,” @stevitano_wavybaby commented.
“You keep on disappointing your favs, it's not even funny anymore,” @tlhapi_manando_nthunya added.
